The Finepix S700 camera from Japan’s Fujifilm is an inexpensive camera packed with good features. As the name suggests, bridge cameras, apart from bridging the features bridge the price as well.
Priced at just about a hundred pounds, the camera comes with a 7.1 mega pixel sensor, an LCD screen measuring 2.5 inches and a 10x optical zoom lens. The low price has not thankfully resulted in compromising features. Focus is quite good as is the colour. The pictures taken are detailed and of excellent quality. The Fujifilm camera’s shutter lag is also quite good. The only drawback here could be the lack of image stabilizer and a bit of a purple fringing.
Another hitch is the lens. Even though it has a powerful 10x zoom, it does not protrude as much as we would like it to while zooming. There is a zoom toggle feature just near the shutter button in the front, a mode dial that is big and top mounted and an extremely simple and sensible control system. Another interesting and convenient feature is the good hand grip provided for the Finepix S700. The Fujifilm FinePix S5700 bridge camera is powered by four AA batteries. One problem generally found in a lot of digital camera models is they come with the xD memory cards for storing pictures, which is not supported by a lot of photo printers and laptops. There is no such problem with this camera as it is compatible with xD, SDHC and SD memory cards. For the price that we pay, this camera definitely offers a whole lot of features.
