That's a pretty amazing camera. Is there a pretty wide variety of lenses that fit the camera? Are any of the lenses fast lenses? If it performs well at high ISO, I'd seriously go pick that up and carry that around with me as a quick shot camera. The only thing that I might miss is built in flash. If it's my carry around camera, I'm not going to want to be taking a flash around with me too just for a quick photo.

I own this camera and I am in love with it. It's packed with specs and is very well priced compared to most cameras with similar features. Bravo

agree with the tutorial..the horizon is never tilted while taking a photograph. Using a tripod as suggested in the following tutorial is a must.Thank you very much for this tutorial but there is a simple way in photoshop you just have press the 'R' key n u get d option of rotating d picture by angle(s)..!

Hi Ian,

Thanks for reading. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the X-935 and have not come across it yet. Even the Olympus manufacturer page has scant knowledge on this model, so I'm afraid I can't help you there. But I must say that both the Sony DSCW-215 and Olympus X-930 cameras are more than enough for just taking snapshots.

Personally, I'd take the slightly more expensive Sony DSCW-215 for its advanced smile shutter and other features like portrait mode, or in-camera photo-retouching, but either the Olympus X-930 or the Ixus 95 your wife has are also incredible cameras for simple amateur photography.

Happy holidays and best of luck finding a new camera,

Thomas

Thomas

I am looking for a great, simple but not too expensive (!) digital camera. My wife has a Canon Ixus 95 so I'm looking for something comparable with this.

My options so far are the Ixus 95, Sony DSCW-215 and the Olympus X-930 - all of which are reduced in the sales. I also had a quick look at a Nikon (S220) and one of the Fuji Finepix's.

I have read your review of the Olympus X-930 which was very helpful and I like the sound of it. I found it on the net for c£100, which fits the bill. I was ready to go for this after reading your review - however I noticed the X-935 which is only slightly more expensive, but looks like it has a number of extra features, and was wondering if you had tested this particular camera. The only reviews I found were from purchasers on a US shopping channel - and were not very complimentary.

Appreciate the assistance - hope you enjoy the rest of the festivities.

I actually just had it yesterday and im so happy with it. To patricia, it's not the fault of the camera that it only allowed you 5-10 shots, it is the fault of your chargeable battery. Why don't buy a quality battery? I love ES17!

Doesn't do too well with rechargable batteries. I have a brand new set and I only seem to be able to take 5-10 shots before I have to recharge the batteries again. Oddly enough, it seems to do okay with the throw-away batteries.
