A reasonably priced camera from Japanese firm Olympus, FE-26 is the least expensive digital camera introduced lately and that too without limiting any features. Olympus FE-26 is a fully automatic digital camera that gives superb results, especially for people who do not know much about photography. An ideal gadget for amateur enthusiasts, it has been built on the lines of the FE-46 model in terms of features and image quality. It has a 2.7 inch LCD screen and a 1/2.3 inch CCD image sensor. Other features of this camera include its 12 megapixels and its face detection feature. It is different from its elder sibling in terms of zoom as it has a shorter zoom range. Also, the Olympus FE-26 gives you a reasonable 3x optical zoom that covers 36-108mm focal length. Probably the most-used range by most snapshooters, Olympus FE-26 runs on two AA batteries and can take up to 180 shots. Weighing approximately 165g without batteries and media card, the camera is lightweight and extremely portable.
The camera also features a ‘One button, one Function’ design principle, AF tracking and an Intelligent Auto mode. With dimensions 96×62.1×26.7mm, the camera has a resolution of 12 mega pixels and a zoom range of 3, which is the most used range. The Olympus FE-26 has xD-Picture Card for storage and its maximum video resolution is 640 x 480 @ 30 fps. The camera does not have image stabilisation and has a digital zoom of 4x. Its focus includes TTL iESP auto focus with contrast detection, Face Detection AF, Spot, Standard, Macro and Super-Macro. For recording movie clips, one can record a clip with resolution 640×480/15 fps with a recording time of 10 seconds or a clip with a low resolution of 320×240/15 fps with a recording time of 29 minutes.
