The D80’s predecessor, the Nikon D70 was released as an affordable camera packed with interesting features for the digital SLR enthusiasts about two years back. It did not take time for it to become popular and was a strong competitor to other leading brands. The 10 mega pixel Nikon D 80 is Nikon’s latest model for the SLR lovers.
This model skillfully integrates features of various models right from the D50, their start up DSLR model. The 10 mega pixel sensor comes in the DX format CCD, certain other features from the Nikon D200 and the metering sensor from the D50.
The D80 comes with an excellent image processing engine which provides for crisp and natural photographs. The camera also features the Penta-prism Viewfinder which is brighter and larger than the previous models. It supports SD-HC memory cards of over 2 GB capacities. The Nikon D80 body camera also features a noise reduction and long exposure high ISO which is configurable. Similar to the D50 model, this model features the 420 mega pixel sensor 3D Colour Matrix Metering II. This feature ensures high quality photographs with natural colours. The image processing engine is similar to the D2X and D200 models.
Other interesting features offered in this model include the filter effects, small picture, image overlay, Monochrome, Trimming, Red-eye reduction and D-Lighting. Body of the Nikon D80 is compact and easy to carry around. It is also lighter than the previous models D70 and D70S. Menu user interface is improved and convenient. This Nikon DSLR camera is powered by the high capacity EN-EL3e batteries. Similar to the D200 model, it also features the wireless flash integration option. Nikon D80 is definitely a good investment for both amateurs and professionals.
