Halloween is around the corner, tomorrow, and it is that time of the year when people get together and memorable moments are spent. Halloween is a great time, but often the photographs that you click on Halloween are not so great. Since the shots are candid and you don’t really get much time to frame or prepare them, the pictures leave a lot to be desired. Most of the people clicking Halloween photographs are amateur photographers, and suffer from various basic problems that they cannot make head or tail out of. Here are a few problems that you might face while capturing the fun and spooky frolic and the ways to counter those problems.
A major problem in Halloween photography is the red eye effect. You would have often noticed that the subjects in your Halloween pictures have a red light in their eyes. This is called the red eye effect and makes your subjects look even more horrible than what they were dressed for. The red eye effect occurs due to the use of flash in low light conditions, hence while you are clicking pictures at night time, make sure that there is enough light and avoid using flash. It gives a very artificial look. Of course, many digital cameras include an automatic red-eye remover, like the Polaroid i737, for example. Another way to counter this problem is that you bounce off your flash from walls to give a soft fill rather than concentrating it on the subject.
The second big problem for Halloween photographers is that everyone is so hyper and in action that more than often photographs come out to be blurred and distorted. The way to handle this is to increase the shutter speed if using a digital camera.
